Bilateral Cleft Lip Repair

This CD-ROM demonstrates the repair of bilateral cleft lip deformity in children. Australian plastic surgeon Dr. Michael McGlynn from the Sydney Children's Hospital Randwick gives a step-by-step commentary from the start while assessing the deformity, to marking the points of incision, and then each part of the repair.

Animation at the beginning of the video and during the procedure shows each step clearly. Dr McGlynn narrates as he operates. Close-up photography gives the surgeon's perspective of the operation and a wider view of the theatre shows the roles of nurses and others. A transcript of the narration, medical glossary of terms, and additional graphics complete the package. Users are able to move from the video to the other elements and back again as desired.

This CD-ROM is one of three in the Interplast Australia Surgical Series that demonstrate cleft palate and lip repair procedures in children.
