Burns Management

Burns are a major cause of morbidity in many countries where open fires and fuel stoves are used for cooking. The video on this DVD shows how to manage a variety of burns from simple scalds to serious full-thickness injuries that need skin grafting.

The video is presented by Australian burns surgeon Dr. Peter Haertsch from Concord Hospital in Sydney. It was filmed in both Papua New Guinea and Sydney, funded by AusAID and Smith & Nephew, and is part of the Interplast Australia Surgical Series.
