Microfinance in Asia: Poverty Impact and Outreach to the Poor

The 2003 annual conference brought together practitioners from the field, policy makers, and academic experts from across Asia to discuss the role of microfinance in poverty reduction in the region. ADB President Tadao Chino opened the conference.

Discussions at the conference will be used to strengthen ADBI’s research agenda in microfinance over the coming years. In addition to benefiting from the expertise of the invited speakers, we heard from other participants, including the development community in Japan.
