Implementing e-Government: Report of the Regional Workshop

This is the proceedings of the Regional Workshop on Implementing e-Government, which was held in Bangkok 31 May - 4 June 2004. The workshop was jointly organized by ADBI and the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific. About 50 government officials and experts attended the workshop.

The objectives of the workshop were to:

  • provide an opportunity to share experiences in implementing e-Government in the participating countries
  • examine issues in implementing e-government
  • draft action plans to improve e-government

Topics included:

  • current trends and issues of implementing e-government
  • integrating government services
  • benefits of and constraints in implementing e-government
  • digital inclusion to reduce poverty
  • factors and procedures to be considered in improving e-government
  • reinventing (re-engineering) government
  • e-training of government officials and citizens
  • conducive environment for e-government, among others.
