Asia's Contribution to Global Economic Development and Stability: Proceedings of ADBI's Annual Conference 2008 Based on papers presented at ADBI's 11th annual conference in 2008, this volume addresses three critical issues for Asia if the region is to successfully balance greater global engagement with the development of more robust regional markets in the context of the current economic uncertainty surrounding the recovery of global markets. These issues are:

  • How can Asia's financial integration and macroeconomic policies enhance global economic stability and lead to a sustainable recovery?
  • How can Asia contribute to a global trading system that ensures free and open markets while promoting growth and prosperity at home?
  • How can Asia promote climate change mitigation and equitable growth to ensure these regional public goods enhance global welfare?
