Uzbekistan has made poverty reduction one of its key objectives to sustainable development. The task is enormous. Where to begin? The search for the answer is at the core of this CD-ROM, which takes off from a training course for Uzbekistan government officials in the development of the framework and agenda for action of their living standard or poverty reduction strategy.

While the materials here may be focused on Uzbekistan and are at the initial phase of strategy formulation*, the concepts, tools, and skill-building it promotes are universal. Economies that are in transition particularly the Central Asian countries, can use this CD-ROM as a guide towards identifying their goals and courses of action as they draft or improve their living standard strategy.
