This paper examines the impact of rural infrastructure development on poverty reduction, drawing on experience from rural development projects in Bangladesh. The paper finds that, if planned and implemented properly, with the full participation of the target population from the planning stage, rural infrastructure development can make a significant and sustainable contribution to poverty reduction.
