Tax Administration Course - 2006

The establishment of efficient and transparent tax administration systems is crucial, sound fiscal management. Increases in tax revenues and public expenditures have become important to sustain economic growth and social stability. Policymakers and administrators need to improve their enforcement of tax administration, taxpayer services, and tax policy harmonization. These are key elements of good governance and sound fiscal management.

ADB has organized annual tax conferences for the last 15 years. In parallel, the Tax Administration course which was initiated by ADBI and the National Tax Agency of Japan aims to strengthen the capacity of tax officials involved in tax administration and policy enforcement with an emphasis on putting concepts into practice.

The workshop will cover:

  • establishing basic tax systems to sustain government finance for public expenditures
  • restructuring tax administration organizations contributing to good governance
  • facilitating the introduction of VAT and measures for its effective and efficient enforcement
  • strengthening crucial role of tax audit to enhance taxpayers’ overall compliance
  • enhancing public relations, tax counseling and guidance activities for taxpayers, and
  • expediting human resource development for capacity building of tax administration officials.
