Access to Rural Development: Household Perceptions on Rural Development
Rural poverty is linked to the exposure of households to economic vulnerability through their chronic dependence on agriculture in income-generation. However, development projects to mitigate this problem can waste precious resources if not identified and programmed appropriately.
This study focuses on the impact of infrastructure, specifically roads, on rural development. It uses a participatory approach, using stakeholders’ perceptions to provide valuable data for assessing the impact of projects. This data can be used as input to a program or to adjust the project’s logical framework so that target outcomes can be attained.
This participatory assessment can also advocate a sense of ownership among the beneficiaries, adding to the impact of projects.
