Workshop: Uzbekistan Living Standard Strategy Formulation

Background

ADB's overarching objective since 1999 has been the reduction of poverty. We have assisted several of our developing member countries to formulate comprehensive living standard strategies, or poverty reduction strategies, which identify the priority policy objectives and policy measures within each country to fight poverty. Uzbekistan embarked on this process in early 2003. This training program aims to provide senior Uzbek government officials with skills and know-how on how to develop a 10-year poverty reduction strategy.

Objectives

At the end of the program, the officials will be able to:

• understand the purpose of poverty reduction strategies
• will be able to better manage and implement Uzbekistan's poverty reduction strategy
• develop the policy matrix for Uzbekistan's comprehensive living standard strategy and an action plan for finalizing and implementing it
