ADBI Annual Conference: Infrastructure and Development: Poverty, Private Sector Investment, and RegulationBackgroundTwo of the core themes of ADBI activity are poverty reduction and private sector development: this event explores their links with the infrastructure sector. Infrastructure bottlenecks remain a critical constraint to growth and poverty reduction efforts in many developing member countries. The role of the private sector in overcoming these is potentially very important. The conference will be opened by ADB President Tadao Chino. ObjectivesThis conference presents ADBI's work in two areas: infrastructure and poverty reduction and obstacles to private sector investment in infrastructure. Some papers will be presentations of close to completed work, while others will be works in progress. ParticipantsThe conference will be of interest to the development community in Tokyo, including government officials, researchers, academics, and students. All are welcome to attend. How to applyPlease register with our research group. Registration deadline is 30 November 2004. Lunch and a reception are open to all participants who register in advance.
