Integrated Water Resource Management Course - 2005BackgroundOne of the targets set by the World Summit on Sustainable Development is for all countries to put in place an integrated water resource management (IWRM) approach for managing their water by 2005. Recognizing the need for networking and capacity building in the implementation of IWRM, the Japan Water Agency, the Asian Development Bank, and ADBI decided at the 3rd World Water Forum in March 2003 in Kyoto, Japan, to collaborate in launching the Network of Asian River Basin Organizations (NARBO), and a letter of intent was signed at the Forum on 21 March 2003.
