Sandler Background
Prof. Todd Sandler won the 2003 National Academy of Sciences Award for Behavioral Research Relevant to the Prevention of Nuclear War. His fields of interest are as follows: International Political Economy, International Politics and Security, Public Economics, Environmental Economics, Applied Microeconomic Theory. His current research focus includes, but not limited to, international environmental agreement formation, analysis of alliances, intergovernmental agreements, and supranational structure design and intergenerational choices.
He has authored numerous books such as Global Challenges (Cambridge, 1997) which analyzes a range of global challenges in terms of scientific, economic, and political considerations; The Political Economy of Terrorism (Cambridge, 2006) which combines economic methodology with political analysis on the study of terrorism among others; Global Collective Action (Cambridge, 2004) which examines the process of participation and coordination of nations to address global issues; Regional Public Goods: Typologies, Provision, Financing, and Development Assistance (Almqvist & Wicksell International, 2002) which deals with issues that crosses borders such as pollution, disease, and armed conflicts at the same time considers RPG financing for development and poverty reduction; Economic Concepts for the Social Sciences (Cambridge University Press, 2001, translated into Chinese and Russian); The Future of Development Assistance: Common Pools and International Public Goods with Ravi Kanbur and Kevin M. Morrison; The Political Economy of NATO (Cambridge 1999 with Keith Hartley); The Theory of Externalities, Public Goods, and Clubs Goods, 2nd Ed. (Cambridge 1996 with Richard Cornes); The Economics of Defense (Cambridge 1995 with Keith Hartley, translated into Japanese); Handbook of Defense Economics (North-Holland 1995 co-edited with Keith Hartley, translated into Chinese); and Collective Action: Theory and Applications (University of Michigan 1992); and Global Challenges (1997).
