Joint Dissemination Seminar for the ADB/ADBI Flagship Study Book on Infrastructure for a Seamless Asia

Jointly organized by ADBI, ADB, and Thailand Development Research Institute

Purpose

The purpose of the study is to serve as a definitive knowledge product primarily for policy makers in member countries of ADB. It is intended to provide policymakers, concerned officials from private and public sectors and other experts involved in Asian infrastructure with information and guidance on key issues concerning developing regional infrastructure projects through regional cooperation. The study attempted to outline the policies and identify the best practices the region needs to adopt to meet these challenges and address these issues that are essential to achieving inclusive growth.

Background

The output of ADB/ADBI's flagship study on Infrastructure and Regional Cooperation is a book entitled, "Infrastructure for a Seamless Asia". Since its publication in September 2009, the book has attracted considerable attentions from policy makers and media. As part of the series of dissemination seminars planned in major cities across Asia to create awareness and promote the concept of a Seamless Asia, as well as seeks feedback from policy makers, think thanks, academics and private sector experts on how to take this idea forward, the first seminar was held in ADBI, Tokyo on 29 September 2009, and the second seminar was held in Singapore on 12 February 2010 in collaboration with the Institute of South Asian Studies, National University of Singapore. This dissemination seminar is being organized in collaboration with Thailand Development Research Institute. The fourth seminar is scheduled to be held in Beijing in May in cooperation with Ministry of Finance of PRC.

Outputs

The seminar is expected to produce (i) seminar panel discussions and (ii) completed seminar proceedings, feedback, and reviews.

Participants

The seminar is primarily designed to provide senior policymakers, concerned officials from private and public sectors, academics, and other experts or stakeholders involved in Asian infrastructure with information and guidance on key issues concerning developing regional infrastructure projects through regional cooperation.
