The 8th East Asia Top Level Official's Meeting on Competition Policy and The 7th East Asia Conference on Competition Law and PolicyPurposeThis top-level meeting and conference seek to provide a platform for senior officials from competition agencies and authorities in East Asia to discuss challenges in enforcing competition policy. This year's conference will focus on cartels and the experience of East Asian economies in dealing with them. BackgroundThe East Asia Conference led by the Japan Fair Trade Commission (JFTC) has been organized annually since 2004 to share experiences and views on issues related to competition policy and advocacy in the region. The East Asia Top-Level Officials Meeting is also organized annually in lieu of the conference. The top- level meeting is a closed-door event exclusively for staff of competition agencies and authorities to discuss the challenges they face in enforcing competition laws and future strategy for technical assistance. ObjectivesTo enhance understanding of competition policy and laws in East Asian countries and promote sharing of experiences and strategies on issues of common interest. Outputs
