Regulatory Environments to Promote Financial Inclusion in Developing APEC and Other Regional EconomiesPurposeThe event aims to promote effective financial inclusion regulations in the APEC economies and ADB developing member countries that also support financial systems stability. This forum will explore the challenges confronting the Asian region's central banks in their dual role of regulation and promotion of financial inclusion, especially for the developing countries of the Asia-Pacific region. BackgroundAccess to finance, especially for micro, small, and medium enterprises, is a critical constraint in the developing countries of Asia and the Pacific. This policy dialogue will build on financial inclusion events organized by ADBI, including "Promoting Financial Inclusion Through Innovative Policies" (2009); "Financial Inclusion: Trends, Policies, and Challenges" (2010); "Financial Inclusion for Central Asia; the Caucasus and South Asia" (2011); and "The Asia-Pacific Financial Inclusion Forum" (2011). The syllabus of the policy dialogue is built around issues and themes identified as relevant for promoting effective financial inclusion regulations (organized by the Australian APEC Study Center, RMIT University, AusAid, and the Association of Development Financing Institutions in Asia and the Pacific).
