Distinguished Speaker Seminar: Michael Plummer - A Vision of Global Free Trade? The New Regionalism and the 'Building Blocs' Debate


Purpose

ADBI's Seminar Series brings eminent persons to ADBI to encourage debate among policymakers, researchers, academics, think tanks and other audiences interested in economic development challenges in Asia, the Pacific and Europe.

Michael Plummer will speak on the trend toward "mega-regional" free trade agreements in the Asia and Pacific region.

Background

Michael Plummer is the Eni Professor of International Economics at the Johns Hopkins University, SAIS. He is also Editor in Chief of the Journal of Asian Economics; President, American Committee for Asian Economic Studies; and (non-resident) Senior Fellow, East-West Center. He was until very recently Head of the Development Division of the OECD (2010-2012). He has a PhD in economics from Michigan State University.
