ADBI Wins Web Design Award

ADBI's web site was awarded an honorable mention in the inaugural Web4Dev awards.

Web4Dev, short for Web for Development, is a network of 88 multilateral, bilateral, private, and non-governmental organizations making use of the web for development-related work. At the last conference in May 2005, the World Bank offered to sponsor the 2006 Web4Dev Awards to

  • recognize examples of exemplary work within the Web4Dev community and,
  • share lessons learned among the development community on how to best use the Web as a tool to support development activities.

The panel of judges selected three winners and two honorable mentions. Criteria included, among others, quality of content, visual design, layout/navigation, site architecture, and interactivity.

Winners were the International Atomic Energy Agency*, based in Vienna, ReliefWeb*, based in Geneva, and the UN Volunteers*, based in Bonn. The World Health Organization* in Geneva and ADBI received honorable mentions.

A longer technical analysis of the winning web sites will be addressed at the upcoming 2006 Web4Dev Conference tentatively scheduled for November at UN headquarters in New York.

Please contact ADBI's webmaster with your suggestions on how we can further improve the site.
