ADBI’s Annual Conference: 10th Anniversary - A Decade of Developments

ADBI will celebrate its 10th anniversary on 4 December 2007 with a conference that will highlight past research topics while identifying critical issues for future research.

The three themes of the conference are:

  • Asian Crisis 10 Years On – Financing for the Future
    (Chaired by Thanong Bidaya)
  • Achieving Poverty Reduction for an Inclusive and Equitable Asia (Chaired by Peter McCawley)
  • Regional Growth through Integration and Cooperation
    (Chaired by Isher Judge Ahluwalia)

Each session will be forward looking, highlighting constraints facing the Asia-Pacific region in the future development of these broad areas.

Eminent guest speakers are: Peter Petri (Brandeis University), Mohamed Ariff (Malaysian Institute of Economic Research), Justin Yifu Lin (Peking University), Ifzal Ali (ADB), Antoni Estevadeordal (IADB) and Yuen Pau Woo (Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada).

The conference will close with a panel discussion involving the guest speakers. The theme of the panel is 'Emerging issues for Asia in the next 10 to 20 years'.

The conference will be of interest to government officials, researchers, academics and students, and those concerned about identifying the issues relating to the future development of the Asia-Pacific region.
