Post-Tsunami Recovery: Issues and Challenges in Sri Lanka - Indonesian Version

ADBI has prepared this Indonesian-language version of a report Post-Tsunami Recovery: Issues and Challenges for Sri Lanka to facilitate information sharing about post-tsunami recovery issues between Sri Lanka and Indonesia. A new introduction has been prepared by Thee Kian Wie.

Many of the issues discussed in this report about the situation in Sri Lanka are also relevant to Indonesian recovery efforts. For example, three of the main lessons listed that Indonesia needs to bear in mind are:

  1. Move fast with relief efforts.
  2. Provide immediate cash payments to victims.
  3. Expect reconstruction costs to soar.

To extend this work, ADBI is supporting parallel studies on post-tsunami recovery efforts in Indonesia, Sri Lanka, and Thailand.
