Opening Remarks by Dean Masahiro Kawai at the Ten Years After: Learning from the Asian Financial Crisis symposium

Masahiro Kawai, ADBI Dean, gave the opening remarks at “Ten Years After the Crisis: Learning from the Asian Financial Crisis” symposium held in Tokyo on 29 June 2007. The conference addressed the question “Are Prevention Mechanisms Sufficient to Avoid Another Financial Crisis?” Dean Kawai firstly reviewed the major reforms that were put in place in response to the crisis, and discussed the strengthened regional economic and financial cooperation efforts of Asian policymakers.
